Polaris - Outside Fountain and Court

There is still time left to take in the sights and sounds of summer. In Columbus the Polaris Mall is located off Interstate 71 (I-71) North and take the Polaris Parkway exit or Gemini exit. There you will be greeted with an array of fun shops indoors and out with lively restaurants and lavish shopping places and floral/green spaces that are sure to engage everyone through the sunny days of summer.
Center Court _ Fountain / Live show area

The center court fountain area is a great place to cool off. A great place for a picnic for 2 or with a family of 4.  Even a spot to drench your self in the cool water where kids (and big kids) can bring their water-ware and enjoy the choreographed water spouts.

Iron patio chairs and tables are a nice fit for anyone to have a nice time while on the patio. Some days throughout summer, Live bands entertain those who stop and mingle and local restaurant patrons enjoying a great meal too.

COTA - Fuel Efficient Public Transportation

COTA - gone Green!

You’re in for a treat with the new COTA “going green” public transportation buses. Headed to the job or the Columbus Zoo, COTA has a way to get you through central Ohio and will help you save the planet too. In early spring 2010, COTA unveiled its newly fuel efficient buses. COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) is doing their part in reducing their carbon footprint by adding features like: “48 percent increase in fuel efficiency, a battery-powered electric motor and diesel-fueled combustion engine, regenerative brakes that repower the motor battery when pressed, an LED lighting system used inside and outside the vehicle and a smoother ride because the electric motors do not require shifting”.

The fabric seating is both comfortable and spacious.  It is best to sit in the seating directly behind the driver or seating facing each other by the front entrance of the bus for optimal seating. However, be mindful that prime seating choices may not be available to you due to the time of day, number of people on a bus and availability of the eco-friendly buses in rotation (there are only six currently). To plan your next trip go to www.cota.com

Red, White and BOOM!

Fireworks! Can we say more? I have traveled to the spot where where Red, White and Boom (July 2nd) will take place in Downtown Columbus (Ohio) and selected seating spaces where YOU can have a comfortable seat to watch and enjoy all the festivities. From Genoa Park to North Bank Park along the Scioto River there is plenty of green spaces, stadium style long cement benches and wrought iron seating available.  Bring all your loved ones to the celebration and enjoy. Don't forget something cushy to sit on.        Happy 4th of July!

Score: GREEN Light         Go to http://www.nbc4i.com/ for all your Boom! details.

Higher Ed is important - Ashland Univeristy

Here in the inner court of Ashland Univeristy's college campus is an oasis of sorts. Not only can you get a quality Master level education, but also see beautiful flowers, listening to a siren water fountain, and enjoy plenty of places to sit. I recommend the stone benches by the fountain for recreation, chillin' or catching up on your studies.

Sturdy patio furniture has the dreaded arms. May be a comfy seat for most but not everyone. Still nice.

I must give this college a GREEN light. Go and get a quality education.

Cosi @ Polaris Parkway

Cosi - pronounced kho'zz is an urban, hip and cozy spot where you can grab a latte, flat bread sandwich filled with everything from seafood, to turkey, bacon and gorgonzola cheeses to gourmet pizzas and desserts. The price points fits its atmosphere.

Comfortable seating, I did however have a choice of seating after the lunch-rush. No arms on the wood chairs. Table with two chairs some larger tables seats four per table. Asymmetric high backed benches were nice too with movable/adjustable round tables for your convenience.

Here are a few seating pictures~

O'Charley's Resturant (Columbus, Ohio)

Good food, service and prices and most of all atmosphere! O'Charley's chain restaurant has a lot to offer the local/neighborhood hangout spot. More importantly, the seating is a comfortable fit for most. For added room, spacious booths with adjustable tables if you need more tummy room -- like some of us do-- make for a nice experience. Other seating available at O'Charley's are high- stools at the "bistro style" tables in the bar area. General seating where tables has wood chairs with vinyl covering are plentiful and sturdy. The only drawback is that of the placement of four chairs per table. The seats do not have arms - who-hoo! that is a bonus! However, a choice to sit with another person at the table is most comfortable with one on each side for a larger patron. UNLESS you want to be cozy with someone, then go ahead and do your thang! ;)

Below is a pix of the sturdy wood chair from the O'Charley's restaurant.

I recommend O'Charley's chain restaurants a YELLOW (yellow) light. Proceed with caution if more than two are in your party.

Park Parkin'- Gahanna Ohio

Creekside - Gahanna, OH 43230

I wanted to visit this place for a while since its unveiling in 2007 or there abouts. According to its website (http://www.creeksidegahanna.com/) says that the park includes a public plaza, bridges, fountains, hand-cut limestone boulders, plenty of nature and natural spaces and a flag art display. While I was there on a warm sunny afternoon, I strolled around and looked into the store windows of many of the shops, like a jewlery shop, wine and bar space, Coldstone Creamey and a host of other interesting places to visist. The park is also accommodating to those in wheel chairs with ramps and a parking garage near the park and *bonus* an elevator leading from the garage to the open space.

The outdoor spaces were favorable for the MyVIPseat cause. As I took in the sights and nature sounds, the main area of the park and specifically the opportuntity for comfortable seating was abound. From seating on the fountain wall to along the walking space, to side benches of wood or steel to 'park' your self to take in the waterfall over the rocks, or view swans swimming in the creek.
Here is my attempt to take pix with my new digital camera. :) Just wanted to give you an idea of some seating choices while there taking in the beauty of the park and all it's splendor. Here are a few pictures of the seating where I felt very comfortable:

> patio chair by the fountains -(this seat may be a little uncomfortable for some)

Pack a food basket, or take a stroll, just Go and enjoy the ambiance of Spring and newness. I will give Creekside a GREEN light.
Enjoy!
